Abstract

Abstract Molybdenum compounds are central in many useful industrial catalysts and in enzymes such as nitrogenase and xanthine oxidase. In order to further understanding of the possible role of molybdenum in both industrial and biological catalysis we have set out to synthesise potentially reactive molybdenum compounds and to search for catalytic activity. Also we have studied organomolybdenum compounds with a view to gaining insight into the mechanisms of known catalytic processes.
