Abstract

Abstract The use of the H 2+ beam to obtain yield curves for (p, γ) reactions is shown to introduce an additional energy spread of about 0.5 keV at 500 keV proton energy. A simple explanation for this effect is suggested. We also find that the use of the H 2+ beam leads to lower values for the resonance energies. Resonance energies and upper limits for the half-widths are given for three resonances in the Al 27 (p, γ) Si 28 reaction.
