Abstract

Abstract 220 Mcps and 100 Mcps spectra of 3,4-benzopyrene dissolved in carbon tetrachloride have been analyzed iteratively by computer; coupling constants and chemical shifts have been obtained, and the latter have been individually extrapolated to infinite dilution. The vicinal coupling constants agree with an earlier empirical equation: a discrepancy for overcrowded protons is found and explained. The chemical shifts depend markedly on the concentration of the solution.
