Abstract

Abstract Estimates of the weight average molecular weight of mouse myeloma cell cytoplasmic poly(A)(+)RNA obtained by polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis and by sucrose gradient sedimentation differ by a factor of two. This difference is not due to degradation of the RNA molecules during sedimentation nor to acid poly(A) double helix formation during electrophoresis. The difference is probably due, at least in part, to the presence of poly(A) sequences in the RNA molecules.
