Abstract

Abstract The recently developed alternative formalism for the so-called MND problem enables the first four frequency moments of soft X-ray spectra in simple metals to be calculated. The formulas obtained are directly applicable to any model and require no previous solution of integral equations. The expressions are generalized for finite temperatures. Some numerical results for the simplest model are presented.
