Abstract

Abstract A trajectory puff model of long-range transport of sulfur oxides in eastern North America computes trajectories from modified surface geostrophic winds, taking advantage of the relatively fine space and time scales of routine surface observations. Annual and seasonal average concentrations of sulfur oxides and their wet deposition were computed for 1979. Comparison of simulated annual wet deposition with monitored values yielded reasonably good agreement. Also, the seasonal trends computed by the model followed the trends in observations.
