Abstract

Abstract We discuss the size effect in the vibrational specific heat of small metallic particles. For free boundaries we investigate the size dependence of the maxima in the specific heat enhancement. We use the scalar continuum model and show that the rigorous summation over the discrete spectrum corresponds to the Debye interpolation formula in the bulk limit.
