Avaliação tomográfica do tecido ósseo peri-implantar de implantes cone morse com mais de um ano de ativação protética

This study had as objective to evaluate bone preservation and remodeling around morse taper implants in two distinct periods: after installation of the healing abutments and after prosthetic loading of the implants. The evaluations were performed by using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) in patients who underwent dietary supplementation with two natural extracts: Grape Seed Extract [GEU] and Grapefruit Seed Extract [GTO]. Three patients who completed the clinical stages of a previous study were selected, one patient from the GEU group, one from the GTO group and one from the control group [CON]. These patients were submitted to CBCT scans in two periods: immediately after implants reopening (T0) and at least one year of prosthetic loading (T1). The CT scans were exported to Prexion 3D Viewer program in which an experienced radiologist carried out the measurements. Four linear assessments were performed in each tomographic examination: in the buccal and palatal bone, in the middle and cervical thirds, in sagittal and axial image sections. The results showed a better bone wall maintenance in the individuals of the GEU group compared to the GTO group. However, these results were not similar to the control group, due to the different region of the implants (anterior versus posterior). Further studies are needed to adequately understand the changes that take place in patients using dietary supplements.
