Augmented interleukin-6 secretion in collagen-stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with systemic sclerosis.

The results of this study suggest that peripheral blood mononuclear cells from patients with systemic sclerosis are specifically sensitized to human type I collagen to produce increased levels of IL-6, which may play a role in the pathogenesis in this fibrotic disorder.
