Abstract

Alberto Sorbelli, an Italian-Parisian artist, stands as a unique figure within neo-conceptualism and performance art. This report seeks to explore the complexity of his Work, which is characterized by a deep intertwining of art and life. Since his entry into the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1989, Sorbelli has developed provocative practices that challenge institutional and aesthetic conventions. The character of *La Pute*, central to his oeuvre, articulates a critique of social mores and structures while redefining the modalities of artistic performance. From his early actions in 1992 to the recent sale of immaterial works, such as a single word auctioned at the Hôtel des ventes Drouot in 2023, Sorbelli deconstructs the systems of artistic legitimation, aligning himself with the framework of Institutional Critique, drawing on influences ranging from Marcel Broodthaers to Michel Foucault. Through his performances and interventions in the art world, Sorbelli positions himself not as a moralizer but as a hypermodern moralist, a critical and ironic observer of contemporary society who blurs the boundaries between private life and artistic creation.
