Abstract

The author presents a numerical method based on ENO-methods with subcell-resolution techniques in order to solve one-dimensional scalar conservative equations with stiff source terms. Essential ingradients to improve the representation of the source term consist in the appropriate localisation of discontinuities in the interior of the cell and of the characteristic directions. Applications to time dependent model problem show an exact and crisp reproduction of the timewise moving discontinuity in clear contrast to conventional finite difference methods. It is believed that also those methods which are used to determine as in particularly the stationary solution of flows with discontinuities in the present of reactions have to be able to appropriately simulate time accurate flows.
