Abstract

Abstract The lakes of Windermere and Coniston receive sewage outflows and this is a theoreticalhazard to those who use the lake to swim, boat or ski. A case control study of patients consulting local doctors for acute gastro-intestinal symptoms showed no association with lake use. This emphasizes the feasibility and importance of practical assessment of local health hazards.
