Abstract
It is important for manufacturing companies to have changeable structures that enable rapid and cost-efficient adaptations to changing requirements. An important aspect in adapting factory structures is the dynamic characteristics of changeability. In addition to the fulfilment of changed requirements, structural adaptations influence the degree of changeability of a factory itself and can thus affect the degree of planning freedom in future periods. This article provides a methodology for planning structural adaptations that can be used to analyse and evaluate the possible impact of a structural adaptation on the factory‘s changeability. The aim is to avoid planning errors and ensure the development of long-term economic factory structures.
