Abstract

Abstract Nitriding combustion can be applied to waste recycling to produce usable ceramics as well as high performance ceramics at low cost. Some successful conversions of reclaimed silicon to silicon nitride, silicon sludge and aluminum dross to sialon-based ceramics, and desert sand to silicon oxynitride are demonstrated.
