Abstract

Specific features of the corrosion behavior of aluminum is studied in NaCl solutions with addition of antimony iodide under contact exchange conditions. It was found that the corrosion rate depends non-monotonously on the additive concentration. By varying the exposure time, the conditions for the inhibitive action of the additive are found. The analysis of the time dependences of the inhibition coefficient and partial inhibition coefficients that characterize the changes in the free corrosion potential of aluminum and the blocking of its surface with the antimony deposit demonstrates the dominating effect of the latter factor.
