Abstract

Abstract Chromatographic separation of 3-ketoglucose and glucose or the separation of 3-ketocellobiose and cellobiose using a cation-exchange resin was examined, and the resin in potassium-ion form with a divinylbenzene content of 4% was found to be the best for the separations. The parameters related to the axial dispersion and resin-phase diffusion of each solute were also evaluated. For the separations of 3-ketoglucose and glucose, and 3-ketocellobiose and cellobiose using the resin, resolutions of more than 0.9 and 0.6, respectively, were achieved when the sample volume was less than 5% of the bed volume.
