Abstract

Abstract Cultured cells grown in monolayers were permeabilized by applying low-voltage electric pulses. The permeabilized cells were able to incorporate extracellular nucleotides into their DNA, as well as various monoclonal antibodies as determined by indirect immunofluorescence. Complete reversibility and long term viability were retained. Both applied voltage and pulse duration were important parameters for this method and the results were different for different cell lines.
