Abstract

Cells of the newly established Ehrlich ascites tumor strain HD 33 were investigated under growth conditions in vivo and in vitro. Morphologically, the cells are distinguished from other Ehrlich ascites strains by striking individual differences in electron microscopic staining and in their response to toluidine blue. The cells are capable of synthesizing and storing glycogen intra- and extranuclearly. Besides glycogen α- and β-particles, the glycogen deposits contain a reticular network of a protein nature which is masked by the polysaccharide.
