A Novel Timing Synchronization Algorithm for OFDM Systems

Abstract A new timing synchronization scheme based on only one training sequence in time domain is proposed in this paper. The time synchronization and frequency offset was accomplished by using the good correlation properties of CAZAC training sequence, and then remove interferential related peak utilizing frequency offset compensation. Moreover, it analyzes the problem of timing synchronization with error away from cyclic prefix in multipath fading channel where the first path is not the strongest one. So search window and threshold are introduced to find out the first path with low complexity and high timing accuracy. The analysis and simulation results show that, this algorithm offers fast convergence and high timing accuracy, and can be available in the OFDM system.
