Abstract

Abstract The present study describes structural features of inner nuclear membrane invaginations in polytene nuclei of salivary glands of Drosophila hydei occurring as a result of vitamin B 6 treatment. The invaginations are extensions of the perinuclear space, which displays sack-like structures containing RNP. The possible significance of the increase in inner nuclear membrane surface area with respect to the transport of gene products from the nucleus to the cytoplasm is discussed.
