Abstract

Abstract The interaction in the final state in direct nuclear reactions is rigorously taken into account in the framework of the dispersion method. The solution of a singular integral equation arising in the problem is expressed in the form of quadratures containing the scattering phase and a function determining the character of the reaction. The formula for the partial amplitude of the reaction is reduced to one quadrature, a model for the phase, which is a good approximation for a wide class of scattering events, being used for the nuclear interaction; exact formulae are obtained for the Coulomb interaction. The results make it possible to obviate the difficulties of the distorted wave Born approximation involved in the formulation and application of this method.
