Abstract

Abstract In 1979 Smith proposed the Kazanski-Monin stability μ as a suitable parameter to classify the atmospheric turbulence as a function of Pasquill stability classes in unstable and neutral conditions. This scheme is extended to the stable conditions and to a wide surface roughness z 0 range. A comparison of the present and Golder turbulent classification schemes shows slight differences in defining the transition between Pasquill stability classes.
