Abstract

Abstract Assay methods for measuring saliva levels of carbamazepine and its active metabolite, and of amidopyrine are developed using a standardized analysis strategy. Both assay methods include ion-pair extraction of the analytes with octylsulphate as the counter-ion and chromatography on a CN-bonded phase using a hexane—dichloromethane—acetonitrile—propylamine mixture as the mobile phase. Both methods are applied to patient samples.
