Abstract

Abstract The morphology and conditions known to favor the induction of the chlamydospores of Candida albicans are described. Three media are compared for their chlamydospore-inducing ability with 109 freshly isolated strains of C. albicans. Corn meal infusion agar was found superior to Chlamydospore Agar (Difco) and an unpurified soluble-starch agar (experimental), both as to number of isolates induced to produce chlamydospores and as to the rapidity of the induction.
