Abstract Lipids extracted from broad bean Vicia faba L.) leaves were purified on a Sephadex LH-20 column. The two major components, the mono- nd digalactolipids, were then separated by a simple silica gel column chromatographic method. After separation and acid hydrolysis both were assayed by their galactose content. Glucose from the sulpholipid and sterol glycosides was removed by incubation with yeast. Comparisons of galactolipid and phospholipid contents of broad bean leaves are presented.
