Abstract

Abstract An effective pair potential for liquid iron at 1833K has been estimated from the low-angle structure factor data. This potential indicates a marked difference in the position of the first minimum from the conventional Johnson potential which has been widely used in the analysis on various properties of solid and amorphous iron. A molecular dynamics calculation using two potentials has also been carried out.
