Abstract

Abstract The temperature dependence of the absorption bands and of the magnetic circular dichroism were measured for the Au - centre in KCl. The data were analyzed by the method of moments. The obtained values of the electron-lattice interaction coefficients show that the coupling of the 1T 1u and 3T 1u excited states the symmetric A 1g mode and the low symmetry E g and T 2g modes is approximately equal. The g factors of the excited states g A = 0.73 and g C = 0.65 are consider ably reduced from those predicted by the purely ionic model of the KCl:Au - centre.
