Abstract

Print, mounted. An outline of the fortifications is shown along with the area immediately surrounding Fort Fisher. Individual vessels of the U. S. Navy, commanded by David Dixon Porter (1813-1891), are named; and their positions in the battle formation are shown. Solid lines on the map indicate the line of fire from each vessel to the fort. Broken lines indicate the radius of 1/2 mile, 3/4 mile, 1 mile, and 1 1/4 miles distances from the fort. Depths shown by soundings.
