Showing off her prom dress, Frank Badda's daughter, Jeri, stands next to a budding tree in the Badda yard in Roslyn. This photo was probably taken late April or early May when spring typically reached the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains. Long winters weathered buildings like the one behind Jeri, intentionally left unpainted to help lower property taxes in this economically depressed region.
