Abstract

Abstract The recoil-free fraction ƒ a of the 100.1-keV line of 182W was measured with the Mössbauer effect in an absorber of a tungsten bronze Na 0.8WO 3 at 4.2°K by the variation of line width thickness. The result is ƒ a = 0.18 ± 0.01 corresponding to θ M = 298° K and rms zero-point motional amplitude R = 0.044 A ̊ . The amplitude is almost as small as that in tungsten itself and considerably smaller than the amplitudes in beryllium or diamond.
