Abstract

Aim: Determination of horizontal magnification factor in panoramic radiography of dental arch in adule and children. Material and methods: The kind of this trsearch is practical and eross sectional and was done of first half of 1384 in Radiology -Department of Dental school of Kerman. The number of samples was 120 (60 a dule) and (60 children) We Radiographed thepaitients in standard condition. Then moulding with algite and study cast was made Width of all the paivient's teeth and edentulous area which leads to thoese two teeth on the moulded cast measured. Then width of teeth and edentulous area in the same paiients measured of the radiography. The out puts sent tor statical analys and compare Results: Maxilla: 1- the average of Horizontal (Magnification in central and latral of maxilla in each side is abot 1.1. 2- the average of Horizontal (Magnification in premolar of maxilla in each sideis about 1.27 3- The average of Horizontal (Magnitlcation in molar of maxilla in each side is about l.19 4- The average of Horizontal (Magniticat'ion in maxilla is about 1.l8 5- The average of Horizontal (Magnitication in central and lateral of mandible is about 1.16 6- the average of Horizontal Magnification in premolar of mandible is about 1.19 7. the average of Horizontal Magnification in molar of mandible is about 1.25 8- the average of Horizontal Magnitrcation in mandible is about 1.20 9- the average of Horizontal Magnitrcation in diachous central and latral of maxilla is 1.27 10- the average of Horizontal Magnification in dicidious molar of maxilla is 1.19 11- the average of Horizontal Magnification in maxilla of childern is aboute 1.23 12- the average of Horizontal Magnification in dicidious centrals and fatrals of mendibleis 1.36 13- the average of Horizontal Magnitrcation in diadious molars of mandible is 1.26 14- the average of Horizontal Magnification in mandible of children is about 1.31 Conclusion: As result for this investigation the assess of space and size of teeth in horizontal dimension is with magnification. But in vertical dimension this scale in more trusted.
