Abstract

Abstract An exact, but not closed system of equations for the correlation functions of a general Ising lattice is deduced. The system is closed by a new type of approximation and three coupled equations for the long-range order parameter, the pair-correlation function and a consistency parameter are obtained. In the limit of vanishing consistency parameter, the present theory is identical with Zernikes theory of propagation of order.
