Abstract

Abstract Flow of the solar wind plasma about the Moon is examined in two limiting cases. Attenuation of the lunar atmosphere is found to be controlled by either flow pattern, while accretion from the solar wind can be important only under rather restrictive conditions. The expected composition and mass of the lunar atmosphere are discussed.
