Abstract

Abstract Cation distributions in the system Fe 3O 4 CoFe 2O 4 from 600 to 1300°C were calculated from high-temperature thermopower measurements on oxygen-stoichiometric specimens. Behavior is virtually identical to that in the Fe 3O 4 MgFe 2O 4 system. Conductivity inCo xFe 3− x O 4 ( x < 1) obeys the relationship σ = [ d e / ( d + e ) ] T − 1 exp ⁡ [ 14.3 − 1475 T − 1 ( 1 + 1.189 x 2 ) ] , , where d and e are the octahedral Fe 2+ and Fe 3+ occupancies, respectively.
