Abstract

Abstract The highly layered superconductor with purely electromagnetic interaction between its layers is considered. An explicit formula for the energy of pancake-vortex interaction near the surface layer is produced and generalized for an array of a finite number of layers; the logarithmic long-range vortex pair potential is preserved for any number of layers N>1. The temperature of decoupling of pancake-vortex layers is essentially lower for the surface layer, T o d, the layers in the bulk, T d; provided that the average induction B is not too low: T o d ≈ T d √ H c1 / B.
