Abstract

Publisher Summary The definition of a potential duplicate is that the rows have the same surname and match two of the five columns related to street address—first_name, street_address, city_name, state_code, and phone_nbr. The potential duplicate can help in cleaning up the customers table by improving the data problems that exist because of typos, inaccurate data entry, and separate listings for different family members. This chapter helps in cleaning the customer tables by preparing a report with potential duplicates using structured query language (SQL).
