Abstract

Abstract The stagewise collocation method is applied to reduce the full-order models used for simulating multistage separation units. In particular we refer to steady-state, high-purity x D up to 0. 9999) and symmetric ( x B=1− x D) binary distillation columns. The performance of these reduced-order models is represented in a master plot which provides, rather synthetically, the model error as a function of the reduction order.
