Abstract

Abstract The results of the investigation of P-odd asymmetry in the integral emission of γ-rays after absorption of transversely polarized neutrons by 207Pb are given. The measurements were carried out with the polarized thermal neutron beam of the ITEP reactor. The obtained upper limit of the P-odd asymmetry coefficient is 1.7 × 10 −5 at the 90% confidence level. This result is likely to reject the one-particle (valence) mechanism of the mixing of compound resonance wave function components with opposite parities.
