Abstract

Abstract In this paper an experimental investigation of the survival rates of negative fluorine ions scattered against an Ag(110) surface is presented. A theoretical analysis shows that the charge transfer dynamics can be attributed to resonant tunneling. We show that the results can be well described using a time-dependent Anderson model. We discuss the role of many-electron interactions and show that they must be included for an accurate modeling of the charge transfer.
