Abstract

Abstract 57Fe Mössbauer spectra of a sample of YBa 2(Cu 0.985Fe 0.015) 3O 7−σ for which T c≈59 K show that long-range magnetic order is established below ∼ K. A model in which the Fe spins are aligned with the crystallographic c-axis provides satisfactory agreement with the observed relaxation spectra. This result is discussed with reference to current theoretical models of high- T c superconductivity which involve magnetic coupling mechanisms.
