Abstract

Abstract We present generalized heat flow data and estimated deep temperatures in the lithosphere along two geothermal profiles in Central Asia. Geological control along these profiles is provided by boreholes and three seismic reflection profiles. The 1200 °C isotherm is estimated to be at depths of 180–200 km in the southern part of the Siberian platform. The depth of this isotherm decreases to 120–150 km in the Trans-Baikal area, and to 60–80 km in the Baikal rift zone.
