Abstract

Abstract An interacting Bose gas in a harmonic trap is investigated for its energy shift due to combined effect of the inter-particle interaction and the trap. Compared with the case in free space, it is seen that the interactions have opposite effects on the transition temperature of Bose–Einstein condensation.
