Abstract

Caption on back of card: Altgeld Hall at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, is one of several castle-like 'Altgeld Halls' at state universities in Illinois. Named for John Peter Altgeld, governor when Northern was established, it was the first and only building in 1899 at Northern Illinois State Normal School. It now contains administrative offices.
