Abstract

Abstract The rotationally resolved excitation spectrum of the O 0 0 band of the S 1 « S 0 transition in 2H-benzotriazole, at 286.4 nm, is obtained by using laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy in a molecular beam. From this b-type spectrum, the rotational constants in the ground state and the electronically excited state are determined. The rotational lines are strongly broadened due to the short lifetime which is determined to be around 1.1 ns.
