Abstract

Abstract The transplutonium elements form a singly negatively charged complex ion with ethylene-diaminetetra-acetic acid (EDTA). The separation factors of the various complex ion pairs (Fm/Es, 1·90; Es/Cf, 1·42; Cf/Cm, 1·63) in anion exchange resin systems are independent of the complex ion dissociation constant, and appear to be strongly dependent on its size. The separation factors varied with different resins and were not affected by considerable quantities of elements such as Na, K, Li, Ca and Al.
