Abstract

Abstract Epidermal growth factor (EGF) is a polypeptide hormone isolated from both man and mouse. EGF promotes the growth of epidermis in animals and of many cell types in culture. It has been possible to trace its binding, internalization and degradation in responsive cells and to begin to understand the molecular events associated with the mitogenic activity of this hormone.
