Distribution of fishes in the Nila River

The Nila River, longest river in Kerala, originating from Anamalai Mountainson the Western Ghats is surveyed from April 1998 to March 1999 for fish fauna. A total of 150 species of fishes were collected from five stations. Cyprinids are the dominant forms in almost all sampling stations. The present study indicated that fishes are more abundant during post monsoon season
