The purpose of this study was to study the effect of the instant Talbina prepared by spray drying technique on lowering blood glucose in diabetic rats compared with classic Talbina. The instant Talbina powder was prepared by the spray drying of classic Talbina (Patent No. 24427). The instant Talbina powder was added by 10% and 20% to diabetic rats' diets. The classic Talbina was added by 20%. Adding the instant Talbina by 10% and 20% and the classic Talbina by 20% reduced serum glucose by 37.2%, 48.8% and 49.4%, respectively, based on the control (+ve) diabetic rats group. Serum total cholesterol TC was reduced by 11.4%, 29.6% and 28.2%. Serum low density lipoprotein LDLc (bad cholesterol) was reduced by 23.5%, 62.8% and 60.0%, respectively. Serum very low density lipoprotein VLDLc was reduced by 5.4%, 22.8% and 21.7%, respectively. Serum high density lipoprotein HDLc (good cholesterol) was increased by 12.0%, 24.9% and 22.7%, respectively. Serum total lipids TL was reduced by 15.5%, 23.7% and 22.8%, respectively. Serum aspartate aminotransferase AST enzyme was reduced by 14.9%, 31.2% and 33.1%, respectively. Serum alanine aminotransferase ALT enzyme was reduced by 7.5%, 32.5% and 32.4%, respectively. Serum alkaline phosphatase ALP enzyme was reduced by 10.7%, 28.3% and 31.5%, respectively. Serum uric acid was reduced by 25.0%, 31.5% and 34.9%, respectively. Serum urea was reduced by 29.1%, 32.6% and 34.8%, respectively. Serum creatinine was reduced by 12.5%, 24.4% and 25.6%, respectively. The statistical analysis showed no significant differences between the instant and the classic Talbina (20%). Whereas significant differences between the instant Talbina 10% and both the instant and classic Talbina (20%) were found. The results show also that, the instant Talbina 20% recorded the best treating effect in the histopathological tests of the liver, heart and kidney in the hyperglycemic rats. The results conclude that, spray drying technique has no passive effects on the hypoglycemic effect of the instant Talbina.
