Abstract

Abstract It was found that the deoxygenative coupling of alcohols efficiently proceeded by treatment with lanthanum metal and chlorotrimethylsilane in the presence of a catalytic amount of iodine. This coupling reaction was accelerated by the addition of a catalytic amount of copper(I) iodide.
