Abstract

Abstract Gilman's criterion erroneously predicts the most probable cleavage plane of Be. The formula is refined in order to take into account anisotropy of the interaction range between atoms in various planes. The pseudopotential approximation is used, and the cleavage plane is now correctly predicted.
